Spring

Every year I look at the window and see bare branches (except for mistletoe which stays green year round) and then one day I look out and see cottonwoods in all their leafy glory. I’m sure I saw the beginnings of spring but was busy with chores or pre-occupied with work and the day-to-day unfolding of spring never truly registered. Every year I promise myself I will be more alert to the changes coming as winter passes. This year I finally dug out the camera and charged the battery, ready for March 1st. I selected a spot on my deck where I can see the Magdalena mountains during the winter and where the mountains are obscured by foliage during the spring, summer and fall and resolved to take a photo from that location every day until the mountains are no longer visible. So, here is the view on March 1, 2013: March 1 2013
